چکیده

We consider a modified Bouchaud-Cates-Ravi Prakash-Edwards model for pile surface dynamics, and show that in the long-scale limit this model converges to a quasistationary model of pile growth in the form of an evolutionary variational inequality.

A model for the dynamics of sandpile surfaces

We propose a new continuum description of the dynamics of sandpile surfaces, which recognizes the existence of two populations of grains: immobile and rouing. Trie rolling grains are carried clown the slope with a constant drift velocity and have a certain dispersion constant. We introduce a simple bilinear approximation for the interconversion

Spatial Asymmetric Two dimensional Continuous Abelian Sandpile Model

We insert some asymmetries in the continuous Abelian sandpile models, such as directedness and ellipticity. We analyze probability distribution of different heights and also find the field theory corresponding to the models. Also we find the fields associated with some height variables. Avalanches at rough surfaces.

We describe the surface properties of a simple lattice model of a sandpile that includes evolving structural disorder. We present a dynamical scaling hypothesis for generic sandpile automata and, additionally, explore the kinetic roughening of the sandpile surface, indicating its relationship with the sandpile evolution. Finally, we comment on the surprisingly good agreement found between this ...

Simulation of Pedestrian Dynamics with Macroscopic and Microscopic Mathematical Models

Here, we collect two parts of a research project on the pedestrian flow modeling. Rapid growth in the volume of public transport and the need for its reasonable, efficient planning have made the description and modeling of transport and pedestrian behaviors as important research topics in the past twenty years. First, we present a macroscopic model for the pedestrian flow based on continuum mec...

Quenched noise and over-active sites in sandpile dynamics

– The dynamics of sandpile models are mapped to discrete interface equations. We study in detail the Bak-Tang-Wiesenfeld model, a stochastic model with random thresholds, and the Manna model. These sandpile models are, respectively, discretizations of the Edwards-Wilkinson equation with columnar, point-like and correlated quenched noise, with the constraint that the interface velocity is either...
